Our Principal

Principal's Message

Mr A

Hello Porter Panthers and Community Members!

It is an honor to be selected to serve as principal for Porter Elementary School. I am excited to meet and collaborate with you all in creating a community where each and every one of our students thrive!

I would like to share a bit about my background. I am originally from New Jersey, and I have been in San Diego now for the past 12 years. I am a husband and as of 2020, and a father as well. Over the past 9 years I have had the pleasure of serving in different roles at Mueller Charter School most recently as a principal. I was most proud of the community we cultivated and the programs we created to engage students within the school environment. These initiatives always came from strong relational collaboration with students, parents, staff, and community partners. We achieved this by always maintaining a student-centered approach to our decision-making processes.

I deeply understand the importance of a quality education and having caring adults within our school community. Mentors have played an integral role in my life. Through these caring mentorships, I was able to develop the confidence to persevere through personal and academic obstacles. At my core, I believe that every student should be able to identify at least one trusted caring adult on our campus. I am committed to supporting these conditions for our children at Porter, where each student is seen, heard and valued, and deeply feels a sense of belonging within our Porter community.

As you know our wonderful school was named after the great Dr. Walter J. Porter. He was an amazing person who exemplified the importance of community, citizenship, and access to a quality education. His dedication to serving and uplifting all members within our Porter community is exactly what I will strive to continue at Porter.

Our mission is “to strive to empower all students to become effective members of their communities through instilling high expectations, developing problem solving skills, all while fostering positive relationships.” This cannot be done without true teamwork! Your partnership in your child’s education, will be essential in accomplishing our mission together

Together we can make significant strides to prepare our students to continue to develop 21st century skills and continue to be lifelong learners. I thank you for your time and partnership. Please feel free to say hello when you see me on campus!
